Version 3.5 of 4000 A.D. introduces many enhancements, improvements and additions to the original game, including all new 3D rendered graphics, new technologies and weapons, improved alien AI, greater player customization and deeper strategic possibilities. New gameplay options include password-protected turns, random events and player-determined victory conditions, as well as the ability to add yourself and your opponent to the game!
Research:
Develop powerful weapons including mechanized assault units, biohazard rockets and charged-ion energy beams
Recover and research mysterious alien technology
Implement planetary defense systems
Upgrade spaceships with improved shields and weaponry, ultra-warp engines, a cloaking device and more
Build scanners to probe the galaxy, your opponent's defenses and even the status of enemy ships in flight
Create advanced resource production facilities and planetary environmental controls
Combat:
Conquer, colonize and develop up to 50 planets, with resource levels that are different for every game
New sabotage mission options let you damage or destroy an enemy planet's resource production capacity, defense systems and military forces
Capture and reprogram enemy mechs
Monitor the ETA of your biohazard rocket and ion beam attacks
Compete against both your human opponent and the Melnikons, a computer-controlled alien race
Gameplay:
Play and save an unlimited number of games
Landscape views of your planets show military strengths and advanced development status
Manage the status of your empire on the empire-at-a-glance screen
Change the names of any of your planets
Toggle sound effects and music
Get help during the game with the in-game help file, or access the html version online
Use the message console to send threatening messages to your opponent
Micromanagement is kept to a minimum, leaving you free to concentrate on the strategic elements of the game

Version 3.5 Released:
