Planet Management

The planet management frame is activated whenever you click on one of your planets. At the top of the frame is the name of the planet. Click on the name to go to the Landscape View (also accessible with a double-click on the planet itself). The commands on the top half of this frame allow you to recruit troops and mechs, research technology and buy items made possible through research (including missile bases, planetary shields, improved resource production facilities, scanners and scanner jamming devices).

NEW: Right-click on any of your planets to change that planet's name.

Missile base: Installs a missile base on the planet, adding 5 points to the planet's combat strength.
REQUIRES: Missile1 research. Another 5 points are added once Missile 2 research is completed.
COST: 10 resources.

Planetary shield: Launches a network of satellites to form a protective shield around the planet, adding 25 points to the planet's combat strength. Further research allows for Plasma Shields, which add 35 to the planet's combat strength.
REQUIRES: Planetary Shield research
COST: 15 resources

Improved Resource Production Facility: Increases the planet's resource production capacity by up to 80% of its original level.
REQUIRES: improved production research
COST: 15 resources

AquaFarm: Adds to the improvement in resource production made possible with improved resource production facilities
REQUIRES: improved production research AND Mechanized Assault research
COST: 15 resources

Recruit Human Troops: Add to the planet's complement of human troops, each troop adding 1 point to the planet's combat strength, although this number will go up once laser and plasma weapons have been researched.
COST: 1 resource

Build Mechs: These mechanized assault units add 5 points to a planet or ship's combat strength, and can withstand the intense atmospheric damage caused by biochemical weapons that human troops are unable to endure.
REQUIRES: Mechanized Assault Troop research
COST: 4 resources each

Scanners: Installing a scanner will allow you to survey all the available data on planets within scanning range, including troop and mech numbers and the planet's combat strength.
REQUIRES: Scanner research. Long-range scanner research significantly expands the radius of new and existing scanners.
COST: 25 resources

Anti-Scanner Jamming Device: This device prevents your opponent from successfully scanning the planet, hiding all information (except the level of resource production).
REQUIRES: Scanner jamming research.
COST: 15 resources

Research: Clicking this icon takes you to the research screen, where you can select new technologies to discover and allocate teams of scientists to accomplish this as quickly as possible.

After selecting one of the purchasing options noted above, you choose the number of items to purchase. The cost of the purchase, (in resources) is indicated, and the purchase is completed by clicking the OK button.

Other Planet Management Features:

Using the command buttons in the lower half of the frame, you are able to: launch ships, target biochemical rockets and use any available scanning technology.

Planets-at-a-Glance screen:

Hit the F10 button to call up the planet management screen, which lists each of your planets and their statistics (combat strength, resources, defenses, etc.):
